NUTMEG RGB-COMPOSITE VIDEO CONTROL CARDS

rear view front view

Many people have asked for ways to incorporate higher-quality electronic images (such as those from computers and line-doubled composite and component video) into their programs. These cards are the answer! Now you can have not only normal composite video in your programs, but high-definition images from computers (like the IBM PC and Apple Macintosh), and true component video sources, such as BetacamSP. (Note: these signals require projectors capable of displaying high frequency RGB signals and component video signals, respectively. Contact Sky-Skan for details.)

COMP MONITOR OUT - Single composite video output via gold phono connector. Outputs one of the composite inputs, selected by the front pushbutton. Capable of driving a 75 ohm cable over 100 ft.

PANEL CONTROLS

SELECT - Selects composite input connected to MONITOR OUTPUT.

PANEL DISPLAYS

COMPOSITE MONITOR - A Seven segment display showing sourceselected.

GENERAL CAPABILITIES

Buffers seven composite video sources, five RGBS signals and routes them to the NUTMEG internal video bus from which the output cards select sources. A seven channel multiplexer selects one of the composite sources for viewing via MONITOR OUTPUT.

DEVICES CURRENTLY SUPPORTED

PAL, NTSC, SECAM dependent upon the projector. RGB signals with combined sync or sync on green and bandwidth to 50 mHz.

MAXIMUM CABLE RUN

Unlike digital communications, video signals do not suddenly "fail" after a certain distance. Instead, as distance increases, the picture degrades in sharpness and color fidelity. For distances over 100 ft, we recommend that tests be made to determine if the picture quality is acceptable; use buffer amps if it is not. Always use low loss, high quality 75 ohm coaxial cable with reliable connectors for all video connections.

POWER REQUIREMENTS

Card draws necessary power directly from the NUTMEG
Card requires one open option-card slot in a NUTMEG

LINE DOUBLER OUT - 15 pin high density female Dshell. DC coupled with ability to drive a 75 ohm cable 100 ft. Pinout as above.
LINE DOUBLER IN - 15 pin high density female Dshell. DC coupled with 75 ohm termination resistors. Pinout as above.
COMP VIDEO OUT - Single composite video output via BNC. Will drive 75 ohm cable 100 ft.
PROJECTOR CONTROL - 25 pin Dshell connector, modified RS232 pinout.

GENERAL CAPABILITIES

Does everything the SS 276-140 control card does. In addition there is a 12 bit fader in the RGB OUT TO PROJ. output. LINE DOUBLER input and output allow the bypass of a line doubler so computer graphics can be shown directly on the screen.
