NUTMEG 8 CHANNEL AUDIO MIXER CARD
![]() |
When audio is associated with video, it's a lot easier to keep the two together, rather than try to sync video segments to audio on a soundtrack tape. And in certain shows you may not have an audio tape; when all the audio comes from videodisc and/or CD-ROM, you need a way to feed it to your speakers. This card accepts eight balanced audio inputs. Each may be programmed to either (or both) output channels, and faded to desired levels. Link as many cards together as needed to handle your random-access audio sources. While the final output may be fed directly to your theater amplifiers, you probably have some tape decks and microphones which also need to be heard. For this reason, we recommend that the outputs from this card—along with your other audio sources—be fed to our CLOVE II Audio Mixer for multi-channel patching and manual/auto level control. This audio mixer card is an improved version of its predecessor (SS 276-101), re-engineered for better noise specs, headroom, and performance. Gain blocks in the front end allow for boosting of low signals. |
SPECIFICATIONS
INPUT/OUTPUT CONNECTIONS
AUDIO IN (1-8) - single channel inputs via phone jack. Electronically balanced. 25K Ohm input impedance.
MIX IN (L,R) - single channel inputs via phone jack. Used for daisy-chain feed from another Audio Mixer card. Electronically balanced. 25K Ohm input impedance.
AUDIO OUT (L,R) - single channel outputs via phone jack. Used as feed to main theater mixer, amplifiers, or another Audio Mixer card's Mix In jacks. Electronically balanced. Capable of driving 600 Ohms.
MONITOR IN - single channel input via gold phono jack. 25K Ohm input impedance. Used for daisy-chain feed from the Monitor Out of another Audio Mixer card.
MONITOR OUT - single channel output via gold phono jack, consisting of an unattenuated summation of all 8 Audio In signals + Monitor In signal. Capable of driving 600 Ohms. Used to feed a small monitor amplifier, or another Audio Mixer card's Monitor In jack.
CH 1/2-7/8- Green LEDs showing active status of channels.
CH 1/2-7/8- Pushbuttons for manual toggle election of channels.
GENERAL CAPABILITIES
· Using a SPICE Automation SelectOutput cue each of the six controllable inputs can be individually connected to the Left Output, Right Output, neither output, or Both Outputs.
· Using a SPICE Automation Fade cue each of the eight controllable inputs can be faded to a determined level.
· At the highest output level the selected output is of unity gain. Because the output is a summation of selected inputs the perceived gain will increase depending on the sources.
· The audio level circuit has a fade attenuation of -86dB and a select attenuation of -93dB. This permits the system to effectively cut-off non-selected sources so that they are not audible. Output can be manually toggled on and off by switch on front of card.
