GARLIC TACH-TO-SMPTE CONVERTER

GARLIC cards/panelsGARLIC cards/panels

Many planetaria and space theaters incorporate large format motion picture projectors. There are many instances where it is desirable to synchronize other theater media elements to the motion picture projector. You may wish houselights to fade up and down at precise frames, or lightning strobes to fire during a cinematic thunderstorm.

Whatever the application, the Garlic card can help make it happen. It converts a quadrature tach pulse from your motion picture projector into SMPTE Time Code, to which SPICE Automation cues (and any other SMPTE-slave) may be synchronized. Simply line-up your start frame in the projector gate before the show and Garlic will feed accurate SMPTE to the SPICE Automation host computer, accounting for the projector's speed variations and keeping SPICE Automation in frame sync. Call Sky-Skan for currently supported devices.
