Sky Quest
Come along with a young woman on her personal quest to find a special place in the night sky, from her childhood adventures on Mars (via a cardboard rocket), to the discovery of her "birthday star" that led her to become an astronomer and build a mountain observatory to further her lifelong fascination with the heavens. She shares her telescope views of the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn with us; points out stars and constellations; and encourages everyone to make the time to look up, even if stargazing in urban areas with light pollution.
Sky Quest is an entertaining and educational exploration of the night sky that appeals to family members of all ages; grade-school children may identify most with the main character depicted as a 9-year-old "astronaut" in the opening video scenes.
Produced by Loch Ness Productions for the Einstein Planetarium of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air & Space Museum, Sky Quest features a captivating, first-person narrative, voiced by Roxann Dawson of TV's "Star Trek: Voyager".
This show kit is all digital and delivered on CD-ROM (62 single frame slides, 3 horizon panoramas*, and 2 all-skies*) and DVD (the show's 5-minute opening video, several special effects sequences, stereo soundtrack, a reference demo of how the show should look and sound in a typical theater installation), and a script and production notes booklet complete the show package. As with our other show package offerings, SPICE Automation cue files and custom soundtrack mixes are also available. Recommended for L-H-S Level 5 planetaria.
* Note: Panoramas and all-skies are delivered as single-images and must be sliced before use. Sky-Skan recommends using DigiDome v4.0 planetarium image processing software for the most accurate image slicing and geometry correction available.
