SPECIAL EFFECTS VIDEO DISC #3
Disc 3 includes a long and complex Solar System Formation Sequence, leading from protostellar nebula through protoplanet formation, to an orrery effect. A rotating Sun, with limb darkening and sunspots, opening to reveal interior layers and zones is featured. Stellar Evolution is depicted with the complete life cycles of two stars: the first of one solar mass, the other of four solar masses. Born from collapsing nebulae they cycle in size and color, blowing off outer layers, with a supernova explosion in the more massive star. Multiple star systems are shown, as well as the large and small Magellanic Clouds. A cepheid variable is depicted, along with other exotic accretion discs, black holes, and quasars. A special sequence on star colors includes a spectral zoom/crawl along with an effective and colorful HR Diagram development. Crowning it all is a special version of the JPL Earth flyover, and a lovely lunar eclipse sequence. The disc contains 30 minutes of color video (plus music); only a few sample frames are shown here.
