New Exoplanet Discovery Immediately Available for definiti® Theaters

Fifth Planet Orbiting 55 Cancri Made Available Same Day as NASA Announcement

Nashua, NH, November 6, 2007

Sky-Skan is pleased to announce that today a new exoplanet orbiting the 55 Cancri star is available on the DigitalSky Academy (DSA) on-line forum. This update to DigitalSky 2 comes within hours of NASA’s own public announcement. DigitalSky 2 software, which runs definiti theaters, will show the new planet on its graphical exoplanet control panel allowing for easy navigation to the new system.

Martin Ratcliffe, Director of Professional Development, said that “the recent exciting news of a fifth planet around 55 Cancri has been added to Sky Skan’s DigitalSky 2 software in its exoplanets plug-in, so today, as the news breaks, definiti theaters can fly their audiences out to the system and view the newest find.”

Sky-Skan’s definiti theaters enjoyed a similar update as recently as April 24th of this year when Glendale Community College Planetarium in California took an audience on a ride to Gliese 581 and its newest discovered planet 581c—all on the same day as the discovery was publicly announced. The professional development department at Sky-Skan and the DSA forum allow timely data to be pulled from the scientific community and put in front of the public in the exciting definiti theater environment.

About Sky-Skan

In 1967, Sky-Skan began by bringing lively special effects to planetariums, broadening the educational capabilities of the dome theater. In the 1980s, the SPICE Automation system was developed and has became an industry standard with all types of theaters and installations worldwide relying on SPICE equipment every day. In the late 1990s, SkyVision began the digital revolution for dome theaters, turning the dome into an unlimited canvas for the first time. Today definiti theaters running DigitalSky extend the capabilities into real-time 3D and multimedia functionality. Sky-Skan maintains production and distribution facilities for shows, consultation and design staff for turnkey theater installations, support and training departments, and the renowned engineering department. Installations of definiti theaters continue to grow at a rapid pace, including The University of Notre Dame (Indiana), the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum (Washington, D.C.), the Eugenides Planetarium (Greece), the Melbourne Planetarium (Australia), and onboard the luxury ocean liner Queen Mary 2.
